lyrics

the land is scorched as far as i can see
the sun is burning my eyes
a town in the middle of nowhere
surrounded by desert and heat
from their rundown houses people are glancing my way

where do i come from
what do i want here
what is it that i’m running from

feeling so helpless
being a stranger
in this alien place

nobody i met before
not a face that i recognize
can i stay in this strange world
can i start a life for me

being free on my own
save from past insanity
home not just for today
a place to build a life for me

the minutes are passing slowly
feeling so out of place
have to sit and think about
this choice i have to make

never known so much heat
never been so parched and tired
never thought i would last so long
but i’ll be at my limit soon

i long for the green land
and the summer rain

i can’t go on anymore
i will stay here for now
the stranger in this new place
facing the crowd
i can feel them staring at me

faces around me
curious and alien
trying to figure me out

still feeling helpless
still just a stranger
in this alien place

is this what i’ve been looking for
where i can start my life
starting new as a stranger
is the choice that i have made

from now on i will hold on
from now on i will hang in
a distant cloud, rain will fall
running down my face
